From the Closet Case Patterns Community
I finally got the chance to make these pajamas--the short-sleeve, shorts version--and I love them. I'm going to make the long-sleeved option with flannel for winter and at least one more short version for summer. I may leave out either the piping or the interfacing next time for less bulk around the collar on the summertime version--or use a lighter-weight cotton. That's the only bit that I'm bothered by, but it's probably due to the combined weight of the fabric/piping/interfacing.
Great pattern instructions
Lovely fit and feel in batik rayon.
Watch the cord you use to make piping. Mine was too stiff so I had to unpick an end and pull it all out after I finished sewing. That left nice even (empty ) piping though.
Will make again.
I'm very happy with my Pajamas! I was really surprised at how quickly the pattern arrived. The instruction booklet was really well set out and easy to follow. So nice to have a convenient little booklet to refer to. I've made the Pajamas up in cosy flanellette for our winter. I didn't have any problems with the sewing. I feel quite proud every time I put them on! Thanks very much Closet Case Patterns! Joan, Perth, Australia
Great pattern! My first satisfying experience sewing with a pattern: clear instructions, great result! I plan on making this again and again!
Desiring real pjs, I chose this pattern for its many design details that make each set unique. The piping option is so beautiful and classic, and the opportunity to use contrasting fabrics is so fun.
It sewed up fairly quickly and easily, the top being very similar to a vintage button-up I have made previously.
This isn't the first Closet Case Pattern I've made, and it sure won't be the last.
The Carolyn pajamas are just as amazing as they look! I found this pattern to be the perfect stepping stone for a confident beginner to more intermediate patterns. Carolyn introduces several innovative techniques that really helped to bolster my personal set of sewing skills. This was the first 'indie' pattern I ever purchased, and it was overall a great experience. I made my first pair as a teenager, and I really think they're ideal for a fairly wide range of skill levels. This is also a versatile pattern as you can make several views in many different kinds of fabric or even style the top for daywear. The instructions were well written, and while there were one or two steps that I had to reread a few times and think about for a few minutes, it was completely manageable and just the right amount of challenging for me. I also found Heather Lou's blog posts for this pattern (regarding piping, collar, waistbands, etc.) to be super helpful. Closet Case definitely produces high-quality and totally wearable patterns that are so fun to sew. It is so fun to have a fancy pair of pajamas that, even better, I made myself! This is a fantastic pattern and such a fun make!
