They were my first pair of jeans and really fun to make!
I’ve made 2 pairs and love them! I’m going to adapt the pattern to fit my guy now.
I was intimidated by sewing jeans but after many good reviews and recommendations I decided to jump in. So far I’ve made this pattern 5 times most recently as knee length shorts. I love the instructions and recommend fitting adjustment tutorials. With each pair I’ve tweaked the fit until its pretty much perfect. I can’t stand ready to wear jeans now. Thanks for a great pattern and instructions!
These jeans fit right out of the box with no adjustments. The instructions were really easy to follow, and I was able to finish them in about a weeks worth of newborn naptimes I love them so much I immediately started on a pair of ginger flares.
I liked this pattern a lot. I've often had trouble fitting pants (small waist, not-small derriere and thighs), but View B, the high-waist skinny jeans didn't much tweaking to fit me.
The instructions are detailed and pretty clear, and in a nice little booklet. Some details are included that are not always provided in other patterns - e.g. what direction to press each seam. The size is pretty close to what's outlined on the pattern envelope. There are blogs on the Closet Case site that provide additional information on fitting, supplies, and some of the decisions such as whether or not to interface the waistband.
A few small quibbles: (a) The fly shield may need to be a bit wider than what's drafted. (b) Although the pattern doesn't say how much top stitch thread to buy, one of the blog entries suggested 200 yards, which is significantly more than necessary. I used about 40 yards (although I didn't do any extra top stitching, I also didn't leave any out)
I've never made jeans before, and found it easy to follow the pattern and get a good fit. I will definitely use this pattern again.
I made the Ginger Jeans for my daughter for a comfortable and great fit. She is tall and I wanted to make her a really comfortable fitting pair of jeans. This pattern was great! I ordered three sets because the first set i cut into. I struggled a little with the directions for the pockets but once i figured them out the pattern came together quickly. I am planning a few pairs for myself and will make many more for my daughters. Great pattern!
